INTERVIEW: Churchcreed interview with Eddy Kings
On 14th September, 2022, Churchcreed were privileged to host one of the great Christian musicians of our time EDDY KINGS, whose Song OKAMA (TALK AND DO GOD) has won the JOGAMA awards. Below is the detail of a powerful discussion we had with Eddy Kings. Enjoy!
Churchcreed: Hello and welcome to yet another segment of the Churchcreed MLTS Where we connect you with your favorite Gospel music artistes especially the ones that have made a remarkable impact on our platform. It’s our little way of contributing and providing mentorship to the Christian Music Ministry. This is one out of many we have done sequencially. Today we are bringing your way another Spirit filled anointed worshiper Eddy Kings who is the composer of the award winning Song OKAMA😇 Thanks for your humility Sir and for accepting to be interviewed by us….how are you doing Today Sir?
Churchcreed: How can you describe yourself and the music you typically create?
Eddy Kings: I am a son of the Most High God who daily love to look like Christ .
I create music as inspired by the Holy spirit. Not a single genre person; I create good music that people can easily relate with.
Churchcreed: Great…
I got to understand that gospel music easily get accepted within the walls of the Church but struggle for acceptance outside the Church unlike it’s secular counterpart. What do you think is the cause of this and how do you think we can correct it or make it accepted?
Eddy Kings: I’ve answered this line of question before and my response has always been thus; John 3:19. The people love darkness i.e ungodly music more than the godly ones. But we can make a big statement by shining the light and remember light does not really make sense, except where the darkness is really gross. We were never called to shine in the church walls; our field is the world..we should flood every media system available to us with our light (songs). Today, the narrative has really improved and still improving.
We are not in competition with the world; we’re still here because the Father wants us to so shine… Matthew 5:13-16
Churchcreed: Wow great
How do you feel the internet has impacted the spread of gospel music in this technology era and to be more precise, how does it impact your music?
Eddy Kings: The internet has been very key in the last 10 years. This has made it much easy for upcomings to spread their music without intermediary.
For me, I have grown my presence on social media (especially Facebook) and it has helped me connect to and cover a large space with my music. People all over the world get to listen to my music because I have maintained a consistent habit of sharing at least one song every waking day. On audiomack for instance, I can see people based in different countries stream my songs. It gives me uttermost delight. The internet is a strong force today

What is the best advice you’ve been given that aided your musical journey?
Eddy Kings: A mentor told me, build your story. This has really helped me. Also I have learned to be consistent. Consistency is built upon the will power to continue growing. Excellence is a journey and not a destination.
Churchcreed: Wow great
If you could change anything about the gospel music ministry or the way it is being done in Nigeria or across the world, What will it be?
Eddy Kings:
- I will like our people to be original with their sound. We have too many copycats
A large percentage of christian artistes support their music solely. I will call our people to invest more in music.
Churchcreed: Nice. What message do you have for Those Christian musicians that are looking up to you?
Eddy Kings: Like Paul the apostle would say, follow me even as I follow Christ. It is far beyond just music; it is real life.

Eddy Kings: My songs are accessible on reverbnation, audiomack, churchcreed, YouTube, mynotjustok amongst a whole lot.
I am currently working on putting out my sophomore album titled CHRONICLES OF GRACE. It is nothing short of grace. It is a project that’ll drop this year 2022
